Our Story

We are Joel and Nat, the married duo who own and run JRP Group. The love and passion we have for our business drives us every day to be conscious of our people, our content, our clients, and our future in this industry. We have both grown up with outstanding mentors in the industry, with over 40 years between us learning from some great humans.

How we got here

To say it’s been a journey would be an understatement. Starting within two of Australia's leading photography businesses, both of us had the benefit of growing up as practicing graduation, high school formal, family, and school photographers. When we delved into our own wedding photography as well, we immersed ourselves in a different style, which allowed us to be more creative with our work; something that we have gradually introduced into everything that we’re capturing today. Nat soon moved into a management position where she was given the guidance and support to run entire divisions (and where her addiction to numbers, formulas, and reporting really bloomed), while Joel diversified and started working across corporate, hospitality, and schools.

By the time 2015 came around, we were able to start saying yes to opportunities that came our way. Without a doubt, there were times when we said yes, took a giant leap, and then had to figure out on the fly how to make that ‘yes’ work. This has been our formula ever since; if a good opportunity presents itself, never say no. It hasn’t let us down yet, and has seen our life take some amazing (and unexpected) turns.

What we want to do

What do we want? What is most important to us in business? The specifics change, but the ideas remain the same.
We want to work with great people. The people on our team; the families, schools, clubs, and businesses we work with; the weddings we shoot.
We want to capture moments that you can't always see because you’re in there amongst it.
We want to make sure that we are open to thinking about the best value, and to grow and change accordingly. We want to offer quality products at affordable prices for every budget.
We want more for your children’s journeys through school. We’ve recently undertaken projects that work towards redefining the idea of school portraits, which makes us wonder whether a school portrait has to be a one- or two-day experience annually for your child, or whether the approach can be more holistic. We think the answer is yes. Can we give more to make it happen? Always yes.

It has taken all of our 40 years’ worth of experience, collating what we have learned, in order to run our business the way we do now. By no means do we want to change or dominate the photography industry, but we do want to be a unique part of it. Perhaps JRP - our services, team, goals - will only ever be special to us but we hope you’ll agree that the reward is two-fold, because each time we achieve our goal it means we’ve delivered the best of your moments to you.

OUR TEAM

We now find ourselves working in schools and sports clubs, kindergartens and childcares, at high school formals, graduations, and debutante balls, photographing families, newborns, weddings, corporate functions, prospectus - and still there's more to add to this list!

None of which would be possible without our team of staff and photographers you see below. We started small and we have continued to grow our family of likeminded people, each of them with a great eye and passion for delivering the best of themselves. We feel incredibly lucky and look forward to seeing more faces join our team in the coming months and years.
